Sangaree Connection

Post and Courier notices the blog!

Speaking of the Post and Courier… the P&C maintains a list of local blogs and they have just added Sangaree Connection’s blog to their list! Dan Conover, the Lowcounty Blog’s webmaster has this to say about community blogs like ours:

My spidey sense is tingling on this one, because I suspect that community blogs (or their equivalent) will become ubiquitous in our lifetimes. They just make a lot of sense.

First, this site looks great – thank you for all your hard work!

However, I would like to make a quick observation reference this site. I am saddened to see that “Ads by Google has been included on this site. We do not need advertising on this site that is not related to Sangaree.

I do not mind seeing local ads from area retailers (maybe with discount coupons?) to help defray hosting costs and upkeep. I just would hate to see junk ads from around the country messing up this fantastic site.

If you need funds for the site, then use local businesses with banner ads or like. Also ask for donations (I will give!), or perhaps ask the Tax District for assistance like Sangaree Parks & Recreations did when they were active.

I am glad that you enjoy the site for the most part. :)

I donated my time and directly incurred the expenses associated with hosting the website and registration of the domain name (www.sangareesc.com). I did this because I care about the community and wanted to put something together to build on the work that our neighbors did with the blog.

Without getting too much into my personal situation, I will just say that I am not an independently wealthy person. The expenses associated with the website were immediate and must be paid. I am working with our neighbors to seek other sources of revenue to support Sangaree Connection and the crime watch. In my opinion, until those revenue sources can be developed, the Google ads are a reasonable solution. If we receive enough community support and local advertising, then they may not be necessary and can go away.

I agree with what April has done up to this point.

If you have a strong opinion about this issue, or any other issues, please email us back and volunteer to participate in this site and these efforts. We need constructive ideas and people to carry them forward.

We need a lead person to coordinate fundrasing.
We need someone to contact the LOCAL Businesses for this exact type of support.

We need signs, supplies, flyers, website support, and if we want to get out on the streets, cell phones, car signs, and the like. We need training materials and media. This effort will cost money. Not a lot, but more than some.

We need everyone to find a place in our community where their strong opinions and feelings can be used constructivly to move us forward.

I welcome any and all comments to be placed on this site, but I also urge caution. We need to be constructive and build our group.
Please email me directly with comments and suggestions when you post here. I want to make sure the correct people hear the comments. I try to read the blog daily, but I do not want to miss important comments and suggestions.

    Please email me at BRADGREEN@SANGAREESC.COM

Thank you for all of your support.
