Library’s Architecture Praised

The Post and Courier published an article on Monday praising the architecture of the Sangaree library. It is a very interesting read for folks like myself who love to know the background and history of local buildings.

Sangaree Community Event, Mar. 24

We’re planning a community day event next Saturday, March 24 from 1-3 p.m. at the field next to the Sangaree Library.

So far, volunteers have secured hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, potato salad, chips and drinks. The Church is letting us use their tables and chairs. There will also be a local radio station there!

Signs promoting the event should be up soon.

Here’s some of the ideas so far:

GAMES: ring toss, egg hunt, frisbee, basketball, trivia (for kids & adults with prizes), races

CRAFTS: make your own bookmark, coloring contest, learn to knit

Does anyone have other ideas? Can you contribute something? Volunteer to help?

Please let us know what you think!

New Contact Us form…

I have just installed a new contact form on the “Contact Us” page, which is not as easy as it sounds when you have a seven pound cat sleeping on your wrists. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…

Crime Watch survey cards

Many residents took home extra crime watch survey cards to share with their neighbors. We did not anticipate that this would happen, but we are so pleased at the forethought of the people who did so. If you took home extra survey cards, or if you received one from your neighbor, please e-mail me. I will give you an address to where you can mail the completed survey card. Thanks!

Crime Watch Election Results

The Crime Watch meeting tonight was a great success. Approximately 80 of your fellow residents attended and elected officers to the new Sangaree Crime Watch.

The crime watch officers are:

  • Chairman - Brad Green
  • Vice Chairman - Joe Cornish
  • Treasurer - Chris Hall
  • Secretary - April McDevitt

The media was very interested in the Sangaree community’s activities. Reporters from the Berkeley Independent, The Post & Courier, Count on 2 News, and Live 5 News all attended. We will post links to the reports as they come in.

Also, every resident who attended the meeting was given a small postcard to fill out with their information and how they would like to participate in the crime watch. We received a lot of responses and several residents spoke with the officers privately with offers to help.

We would like to thank every resident who attended and voted. The Sangaree Crime Watch is a good step towards fighting the crime and vandalism in our community.

A special thank you needs to be said to the Palmetto Land Baptist Church and their ongoing support. They have generously allowed us to use their meeting space for free.

Update: The news stories about our crime watch election is starting to show up on the Intertubes!
