Yesterday evening, the third meeting of the Sangaree Crime Watch was held at the Palmetto
Land Baptist Church. The meeting was attended by approximately 50-60 residents.
Vice Chairman Joe Cornish opened the meeting by thanking everyone for coming. He invited the attendees to review flyers provided to the Sangaree Crime Watch by Berkeley County Sheriff department’s SGT Jackson. The flyers included information about gang awareness, safety tips for women and the effect of violent media on the human brain. Mr. Cornish then introduced Chairman Brad Green.

Sarah DeMarco reported on Sangaree’s Crime Watch meeting Thursday.
You can see the report on ABC News 4 web site.
Thursday evening around 6:15 a white truck was witnessed trying to pass a slow moving car on the Sangaree Parkway. Losing control in the grass while trying to pass the car, the truck slammed into a wooden privacy fence. The driver then sped away from the scene — tearing up the grass and leaving skid marks on the road. Several people who witnessed the accident were able to get the truck’s license plate number and called the police. The South Carolina Highway Patrol, who were already in the area, arrived within 10 minutes. Later that night the SCHP called to say they had caught the driver and issued several tickets.

Do not forget this month’s meeting -
April Crime Watch Meeting - Thursday 19 April 2007 at 7 PM at The Palmetto Land Baptist Church on 114 Tomaka Drive [Google Map].
***** UPDATE *****
Due to the Death of Officer Dawn Tillman, Sgt. Jackson and Ms. Wiley will be unable to attend the meeting. The viewing is scheduled for Thursday night during our scheduled meeting times.
Sgt. Jackson is giving me his presentation on disk and I will present in his place. We all ask that you support the Sheriff’s Department during this very difficult time. This is the third officer to be laid to rest in under a month in our county.
Please still plan on attending the meeting as we still have a lot of business to discuss. Thank you for your support.
************
We will have two guest speakers; Sgt. Jackson, Crime Prevention Officer, speaking on Gang Awareness in our community, and Roxanne Wiley, Deputy Director of Emergency Communications, to speak about here department and its 911 services.
Please tell your neighbors and invite them to come out and join our efforts to improve the Sangaree Community.
We will also be discussing the Block Captain positions for each subdivision. If you are interested in serving for your subdivision, please plan on attending. We will keep the meeting focused and try to keep it about 60 minutes.
Thanks for all of your support and keep it up!
Brad Green, Chairman
