We had a very bad fire on Saturday in Sangaree at the home of Melba Baughman.
CountOn2 has the story from the weekend. Thankfully, nobody was home at the time, but two cats were killed in the fire. I stopped by the home and spoke with family, friends, and neighbors tonight. Two of the teens are in custody, and one has admitted guilt as of tonight.
A Relief Fund has been setup at the First National Bank of SC.
Melba C. Baughman - Fire Relief Fund - 201 Beauregard Road, Summerville, SC, 29483
Please donate if you can. We need to support our neighbors in their time of need.
This incident occured DURING THE DAY on a SATURDAY!!! We need to look out more for our neighbors! We need to watch our neighborhoods! Get the word out about the Crime Watch. Get the website out to your neighbors and plan on attending the meeting on the 19th.
Next Meeting - Thursday, 19 APRIL 2007 @ 7 Pm at the Plametto Land Baptist Church.

I have been trying to get some information about the Easter Egg Hunt that is planned for this weekend at the Springlake Village Pond. It seems as though the signs that are being posted are changing with regards to location, dates and times. At one point, I think it was supposed to be held at the field by the library this Friday. I haven’t been contacted by the organizers’ of the event, so I am not sure what the official details are.
In any case, I drove by the pond yesterday and the signs there said that the Easter Egg Hunt is Friday, April 6 at 6:00 p.m.
I will be going there at that time with my daughter and her Easter basket. See you then…
By the way, if anyone is planning a community event, such as the picnic a couple of weeks ago, or this Easter Egg Hunt, please contact me and I will be happy to post your information on the website and in the calendar. Thanks!

We, as residents, need to report all crimes and incidents to the Sheriff’s Department. Every time you have a concern, you must call the Sheriff, report the crime, and get a case number! If you do not get a case number, the crime is not recorded, and it is as if it did not happen! I cannot emphasize this enough. You must get a case number! Use the drug tip line if you want to make an anonymous report for activity, but we must get all the crimes into the crimes database with a case number to be effective.
IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY - DO NOT HESITATE TO CALL 911!
When making a report, clearly state the following information to the Dispatcher. (You do not need to wait for the Dispatcher to ask):

We have been very busy since you elected all the Officers. We are verifying your contact information, and mapping our residents within the sub-divisions. Did you know that we have at least one resident from all 17 sub-divisions, including the apartments!!! WOW! What an accomplishment! Now we need to grow…
